What Happens When You Stop Feeling Overwhelmed? How One Change Can Lead to Another

Sometimes, the thing you want to change isn’t the only thing that changes.

You may come into a hypnosis session wanting to feel less overwhelmed at work.

And once that changes, you may suddenly realize something you couldn’t see clearly before:

“I don’t actually want to FEEL this way anymore.”

That realization can lead to another decision.

Then another.

And before you know it, you’re experiencing parts of yourself differently—not because someone told you what to do, but because you’re no longer carrying the same internal pressure.

Celeste Hackett recently shared the story of a client who experienced exactly this.

He Came In Wanting to Feel Less Overwhelmed at Work

When this client first began working with Celeste, his goal was straightforward.

He wanted to be less overwhelmed at work.

They worked on that together.

And something interesting happened.

Once the overwhelm wasn’t dominating his experience, he was able to look at his situation differently.

He realized:

“I don’t actually want to work here.”

It wasn’t necessarily that the job had suddenly changed.

His experience of the situation had.

With that clarity came a decision.

He realized he had enough money to take some time off, and he decided to leave.

And he didn’t agonize over it.

He walked into the office and gave his two weeks’ notice.

According to Celeste, he seemed almost surprised by his own ability to do it.

And the relief was obvious.

It was as if a giant weight had lifted off of him.

Sometimes You Don’t Know What You Want Until the Pressure Changes

This is an important part of his story.

The original goal wasn’t:

“Help me quit my job.”

It was:

“Help me feel less overwhelmed at work.”

Once that changed, he was able to see his situation differently.

That’s one reason it can be useful to focus on the pattern you actually want to change rather than deciding in advance what the final answer has to be.

You may think you need to make a particular decision.

But sometimes, what you really need is to change the way you’re experiencing the situation so you can make that decision for yourself.

The goal isn’t for a hypnotist to tell you what to do.

It’s to help you make the changes you want to make.

Then He Brought Up Something Completely Different

After making the decision to leave his job, the client had another goal.

He told Celeste that he wanted to not feel so nervous around women he found attractive.

This wasn’t necessarily about wanting to make something happen.

It was about being able to experience attraction without all the pressure that came with it.

So that’s what they worked on.

Enjoying Attraction Without Feeling Like You Have to Do Something

Think about what can happen when you find someone attractive.

Instead of simply enjoying the feeling, your mind may immediately start creating pressure.

Should I talk to her?

What should I say?

What if she doesn’t like me?

What if I make things awkward?

The attraction itself isn’t necessarily the problem.

The pressure surrounding it can be.

Celeste worked with this client on being able to feel attraction while remaining relaxed and comfortable with the feeling, without needing it to mean anything or requiring him to act on it.

He could simply enjoy liking someone.

That’s a very different experience.

The Goal Isn’t Always to Make Something Happen

There’s something subtle about this part of the story.

The goal wasn’t to make the client more aggressive, more outgoing, or more likely to approach someone.

It was much simpler:

To be comfortable experiencing attraction without turning the feeling into pressure.

Sometimes change isn’t about adding something to your personality.

It can be about removing the unnecessary pressure that gets in the way of simply being yourself.

You don’t have to force confidence.

You don’t have to perform.

You don’t have to turn every feeling into an action.

Sometimes, feeling comfortable with the feeling itself is enough.

What Happened Next?

Then Celeste received a text from him.

It said: “I woke up feeling especially groovy this morning.”

It’s a small message. But there’s something meaningful about it.

This client had started out wanting to feel less overwhelmed at work.

Then he realized he wanted to leave.

He found the confidence to give his notice. He experienced relief.

Then he worked on another pattern that was making attraction feel unnecessarily stressful.

And eventually, he woke up feeling… groovy.

Not because everything in his life had suddenly become perfect.

But because something had changed in the way he was experiencing himself and his life.

What Can Change When You Change One Pattern?

One of the interesting things about personal change is that you can’t always predict where it will lead.

You may start with one specific goal:

  • Feeling less overwhelmed
  • Becoming more comfortable with yourself
  • Changing a confidence pattern
  • Feeling less pressure in social situations
  • Changing an automatic emotional response

And once that pattern changes, you may begin seeing other parts of your life differently.

That doesn’t mean hypnosis makes decisions for you.It doesn’t mean every change will happen immediately.

And it certainly doesn’t mean one person’s experience will be the same as someone else’s.

But it does illustrate something important: “Changing one pattern can create room for you to make different choices.”

Hypnosis Isn’t About Telling You What to Do

A consulting hypnotist isn’t there to decide whether you should stay at your job, quit your job, approach someone you’re attracted to, or make any other major life decision.

Those decisions belong to you.

Hypnosis can instead be used to explore and change subconscious patterns that may be getting in the way of how you want to experience your life.

As Celeste explains, hypnosis is your natural ability to access the subconscious mind, uncover information or patterns that may be negatively affecting you, and change them so you can create the changes you want in your life.

The emphasis is on change.

Not simply understanding why something happens. Not simply talking about the problem.

But working toward changing the pattern so you can experience your life differently.

What If Feeling Better Changes What You See?

Sometimes, the biggest change isn’t one particular answer to a long-held question.

It’s what becomes possible once you no longer feel stuck in the same pattern.

Maybe you’re less overwhelmed and realize you have options.

Maybe you’re more comfortable with yourself and stop worrying so much about how you’re being perceived.

Maybe you stop automatically reacting and start responding differently.

Maybe you finally give yourself permission to make a decision you’ve been avoiding.

You may not know exactly what will happen before you begin.

And that’s okay.

You don’t have to have the entire path figured out.

You can start with what you want to change now.

A Different Kind of Confidence

Confidence doesn’t always look like being the loudest person in the room.

Sometimes it looks like walking into your boss’s office and calmly giving your two weeks’ notice.

Sometimes it looks like being able to talk to someone you’re attracted to without putting pressure on yourself.

Sometimes it looks like waking up in the morning and realizing you simply feel good.

And sometimes, confidence is quieter than all of that.

It’s the feeling that you can trust yourself to handle what’s next.

Your Life Is the Testing Ground

The real measure of change isn’t necessarily what happens during a hypnosis session.

It’s what happens afterward.

Do you respond differently?

Do you make a decision you couldn’t make before?

Do you experience a situation without the same pressure?

Do you notice that something that used to bother you simply doesn’t have the same hold anymore?

That’s where the change becomes real in everyday life.

This is how your life becomes your testing ground for the hypnosis work that was done.

Do the work.  Test it out.  Celeste is about quantifiable, specific results and for clients who are about that too, hypnosis at Family First Hypnosis can be a perfect match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can hypnosis help with feeling overwhelmed at work?

Yes.  For most people, professional hypnosis helps them explore and change subconscious patterns connected to feeling overwhelmed, so that clients increase their daily confidence and get their mojo back.

Can hypnosis help with confidence?

Yes.  Finding the natural confidence within you is one of the most basic things that hypnosis does.  Hypnosis is used to work with inner patterns connected to self-doubt. The goal isn’t to turn you into someone you’re not, but to work toward changing patterns that may be getting in the way of how you want to experience your most authentic self.

Can hypnosis help with social confidence?

For people looking for more confidence with others, hypnosis provides a way to work with patterns that create unnecessary nervousness or pressure in social situations.

Will hypnosis tell me what decisions to make?

No. Your decisions remain yours. A consulting hypnotist can help you work with patterns that may be affecting how you experience a situation, but you decide what you want to do with your life.

What Could Change If You Felt Different?

This client’s story started with one simple goal: He wanted to feel less overwhelmed at work.

He didn’t begin with a plan to quit his job.

He didn’t begin by trying to completely change his social life.

But as one pattern changed, he saw his situation differently. He made a decision. He experienced relief. And then he found another area of his life he wanted to change.

Sometimes, you don’t need to know everything that will happen next.

You just need to know what you want to change now.

If you’re ready to explore that, Family First Hypnosis offers a free 30-minute consultation with Celeste Hackett, a double board-certified consulting hypnotist, in Plano, Texas, with virtual sessions also available.
