Hypnosis for Children’s Issues
Gentle, Age-Appropriate Hypnosis for Children and Teens — Helping Them Work Through Challenges That Conversations Alone Haven’t Solved.
You’ve watched your child struggle with something — the bedtime that turns into a battle every night, the nail-biting that hasn’t stopped no matter how many times you’ve talked about it, the pit-in-the-stomach anxiety before school, the fear of the dark that hasn’t outgrown itself, the confidence that hasn’t come back after a hard year. You’ve tried the calm conversations. You’ve tried the rewards charts. You’ve tried the pediatrician’s advice, the parenting books, the deep breaths together at the dining table.
And it’s still there.
If any of that landed, this page is for you. Because most children’s issues aren’t discipline problems, willpower problems, or “phases they’ll grow out of.” Many of these challenges are influenced by subconscious patterns—quiet, repetitive responses that can continue even when a child wants things to be different. Hypnosis is designed to work with that subconscious layer. That’s exactly the layer hypnosis was designed to work with.
Why Hypnosis Works So Well for Kids
Children are naturally excellent hypnosis clients. Their imaginations are still wide open. They haven’t spent decades layering skepticism on top of every new idea. Children naturally use imagination, creativity, and focused attention every day. Because of this, many children find it easy to engage in hypnosis.
Rather than trying to force change through willpower, hypnosis works with the subconscious patterns that influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Every child responds differently, but many parents notice meaningful changes over the course of a series of sessions.
Hypnosis isn’t about controlling a child, and it isn’t about making them do anything they wouldn’t already choose. It’s about giving the deep, subconscious part of them room to update an old pattern — the fear, the habit, the worry — with something calmer and more useful in its place.
Common Children’s Issues Hypnosis Can Help With
- Anxiety and worry — school anxiety, social anxiety, general worry patterns
- Sleep issues — trouble falling asleep, night waking, fear of the dark, nightmares
- Bedwetting — one of the best-documented uses of hypnosis with children
- Nail biting, thumb sucking, hair pulling — the small repetitive habits that talking doesn’t shift
- Fears and phobias — dogs, the dentist, the doctor, water, storms, being alone
- Confidence and self-esteem — the child who’s shrinking after a hard year
- Academic pressure and test anxiety — the mind that blanks in the moment
- Sports performance nerves — for the young athlete losing to their own head
- Adjustment challenges — divorce, moving, new school, loss of a family member or pet
- Anger and big emotions — the meltdown pattern that has everyone walking on eggshells
How a Children’s Session Actually Works
For most children ages 7–17, a session looks nothing like the stage hypnosis kids see on TV. It takes place in a calm, one-on-one Zoom session that feels more like guided imagination than anything clinical. Celeste meets the child where they are — with games, imagery, and language that fits their age.
The great thing about hypnosis is that you don’t have to take any medications or worry about the effects of drugs on your body. Hypnosis is a completely safe and natural way to free yourself from the need to smoke.
Parent involvement is a core part of the process. For younger children (7–11), a parent is typically in the session. For older kids and teens (12+), the parent joins for the first portion, then the child works one-on-one with Celeste while the parent steps out. Either way, you’ll always be informed about what’s being addressed and what to reinforce at home.
Many children experience meaningful progress within 3–6 sessions, although every child is unique and the number of sessions depends on the issue being addressed. Children are often very receptive to hypnosis because their imaginations are naturally active and subconscious patterns may be less deeply established than they are in adulthood.
