When it comes to hypnosis there are hypnotists and then…. there are the Special Forces. The Special Forces are hypnotists who do the really tough job of helping everyday people overcome debilitating emotional trauma, including terrible childhoods, natural disasters, and even emotional scarring from military service.
Potential clients need to understand that as a hypnotist I am not a drug or alcohol counselor, so legally, I am not allowed to use hypnosis to stop a person from drinking or doing drugs. What I can work on, however, I think is even better. I can help clients to neutralize the emotional component of drinking and doing drugs.

What stress makes worse, hypnosis makes better, and so we absolutely find the effects of IBS lessened greatly after hypnosis sessions are completed. The way we do hypnosis for IBS in my office is to find the subconscious thinking component of the problem and the emotions that are involved, but that have been buried, hidden, from the conscious mind. Once we uncover those two things, done easily in a hypnotic state, but while you are awake and aware, we use techniques that nuetralize these negative feelings.
I ran across this research that supports work that I have done with clients and thought I’d share it with you. Even though the hypnotists in the research do hypnosis differently from the way I do, it’s nice to see that the research is there.
